Putting it out there

diving image 1Seems like sometimes it’s easier to be invisible than it is to put it out there.

Doesn’t really matter what your “it” is. Putting it out there has an inherent level of risk involved, so therefore sometimes being invisible is just simpler.

That is unless your soul is crying out for more. Then invisible begins to feel uncomfortable. Like a hidden shield that separates you from all that is real and good in your life. Or from potential. And isn’t life so very full of potential?

For many of us, there comes a time in our lives when we feel compelled to shed the invisible barrier, the unseen straightjacket that holds us back from our true potential, our juiciest life.

But damn it, it’s scary.

Yet here we are, pushing ourselves during this exciting time of 31 days of doing things that scare you. In fact, it’s 31 days of not just doing things that scare you, but also of things that scare me. All of this would be nothing more than bullshit if I wasn’t putting it out there too, just like we’ve been asking you to do.

So I have been putting it out there, in small and large ways. Every day, a little something at least, and sometimes more. And in the spirit of putting my money where my mouth is, today I decided to share a collection of my writings with the world. Today I self-published Freewrite.freewrite final cover 1

Now you may be thinking, what’s the big deal? Anyone can self-publish these days.

True. But not everyone has the moxie to to put it out there for the world to see, warts and all. Not everyone has the courage to put their heart and soul in writing, out there to share with whomever is willing to read it, and willing to critique it as well.

I decided to walk the talk and do something that I find a little intimidating. And amazingly, I feel stronger for it already.

Some people may not like it. Hell, no one may like it. Or people may love it. Or some combination of the two. Who knows. But I decided to detach from the outcomes and live large and just do it.

The feeling of jumping in and putting it out there is just so freeing!

So let me ask you…what did you do today that scares you? Share your story in the comments below.
