Many of us were raised not to talk or think highly of ourselves, lest we be considered arrogant or thought to be bragging. In fact, there are those who might think that considering oneself to be awesome is conceited or self-aggrandizing.
Allow me poke a few holes in that approach to life.
I’m of the opinion that arrogance comes from a deep-seated place of lack or insecurity. But awesomeness comes from a place of being comfortable with yourself, your life, and your life choices – a place of confidence. A great big difference, if you ask me.
People who are arrogant come from a place of scarcity, needing to hold on to people and things and their inflated concepts of themselves, whereas awesomeness springs from a well of inner beauty and love and sharing. People who are awesome have the desire to share goodness and joy with the world.
Scarcity thinking is pervasive. Awesomeness thinking is rare. It’s the difference between positive and negative thinking. It’s about believing you are deserving enough to receive good from the world and to put quality and goodness back into the world. And far too many people in this world live a life filled with scarcity thinking.
In case you haven’t noticed, this world can be a difficult place. If you aren’t recognizing your own inner awesome, who will? Very possibly no one. And you deserve better than that.
If you’re just an everyday person, not someone famous who is being following around by the press and with a PR team touting your awesomeness, others may not be telling you that you’re awesome. Even if your friends and family think that you’re amazing and doing great things with your life, they may not be telling you, because we live in a society in which that kind of expression isn’t considered comfortable.
We are all deserving. Every single human being, despite the fact that the world owes us nothing. We all have goodness within us. We all have the capacity to be awesome and to share amazing things with the world. Some will share their awesomeness, some won’t, and in some it will go undiscovered.
Don’t be one of those whose awesomeness goes undiscovered. Own it and recognize it yourself. There’s no arrogance in being confident and loving yourself.
In this wonderful #SummerOfAwesome, we want to help you grow your confidence, so that you can share all of your awesome with the world! So stay tuned for more awesomeness and confidence-growing coming your way soon!
